Ibiza weather, climate, and temperature

Ibiza enjoys a Mediterranean climate with hot, dry summers and mild winters. The island's weather is usually pleasant every month of the year, making it an excellent destination for a family trip. Temperatures range from 12°C and 16°C in the winter and cool off at night. In July and August, the high season, summer temperatures can reach up to 30°C during the day. Refreshing winds provide a cooling respite. The balmy nights are ideal for al fresco meals at home or at restaurants. Autumn remains warm at 20°C to 24°C while spring temperatures in April-June hover between 16°C to 19°C before heating up for summer. We recommend you check the weather forecast before packing. FYI, it can rain during the winter and the end of the fall, but it often doesn't last long.

The best time to visit Ibiza with your family

May to September is the ideal time for Ibiza is at its sunniest. The high season falls in July -August, when the warm weather is perfect for swimming in the Mediterranean Sea or sunbathing at one of Ibiza's sandy beaches. Summer is also when the party scene is in full swing if you want to hit Ibiza's famous clubs.

Thanks to warm sea temperatures of 24°C or higher in June - October, these months are the best times for water sports. The sea is cooler in the springtime, but the abundant sun invites you to make the most of the outdoors and explore the island's natural landscapes. Want to avoid the crowds? Fewer people visit Ibiza in the spring and fall.  Plus, this shoulder season is also when prices drop.

Summer: Sea, sand, and sun

Expect sunny days throughout July and August, the perfect time to enjoy the island's bevy of beaches and water sports.  On the west coast, Cala Tarida boasts beautiful turquoise coves. Surrounded by lush greenery and rocky cliffs, this hidden beach remains relatively secret, so you can enjoy great times with your family. During the summer high season, some families prefer to reserve a beach bar to ensure a spot in the sand. The Tanit Beach Bar has a fun kids' corner, games, and toys plus an attentive staff so parents can enjoy a cocktail while their kids play safely. Ibiza for families has so much more to offer than nightclubs.

If you're looking for water sports, head to Cala d'Hort in the south. This family-friendly beach is ideal for body surfing and jet-skiing. Its colourful seabed beckons snorkellers with eye-catching fish and coral.  Your Villanovo concierge would be happy to book you whatever nautical activity you fancy. For example, a kayak excursion through emerald waters, an afternoon of snorkelling, or a private boat for memorable moments on the Mediterranean Sea with your family.
