When the white island inspires the 7th art

If you would like to discover the life of Ibiza's DJs in the 2000s, then this film is for you.
"It' all gone Pete Tong", is a Canadian independent film released in 2005 that tells the story of Frankie Wilde, a DJ who went deaf.
This fictional documentary won two awards at the US Comedy Arts Festival for Best Feature Film and Best Actor, Paul Kaye who plays the hero of the film.
Frankie Wilde is an atypical character, a famous DJ with a passion for music and partying until the day he loses one of his 5 senses. The film was shot entirely in Ibiza, notably in world-famous clubs such as the Pacha and internationally renowned DJs such as Tiësto, Carl Cox and Sarah Main.

The story of Frankie Wilde

The story of Frankie Wilde

This fictional character is a stage beast, a machine for producing music and above all a name in the world of partying.
After many nights making Ibiza dance, chaining up women, consuming endless lines of cocaine, and in the middle of creating his album, Frankie loses his hearing. The doctor tells Frankie that he has only 20% hearing left in one ear, while the other is completely deaf. The solution? Frankie has to stop listening to loud noises and has to suspend all drug use (not easy for a DJ in the 2000s). During a recording session in the studio, Frankie doesn't listen to his doctor and becomes completely deaf.
He then falls into a dark period where his partners abandon him and his wife leaves him.

After a hard period of depression and a suicide attempt, Frankie goes to a centre for the deaf where he meets Penelope who teaches him how to read lips and helps him develop a technique to read sound.
Thanks to this system, Frankie succeeds in producing a mix "Hear No Evil" which he presents to Max, his former manager. Max sees this as an opportunity to take advantage of Frankie's disability to increase sales. Convinced by his manager, Frankie goes back on the Pasha stage and his success is unprecedented, Frankie reconquered the stage.

A story which may seem superficial but which tells the fictional story of an endearing character who loses his most essential meaning. The title of the film "It's all gone Pete Tong" is a phrase that means that everything has gone wrong, which is the case for Frankie when he discovers that he is deaf and can no longer exercise his passion.

Ibiza, an island that inspires

Ibiza, an island that inspires

In addition to being the land of celebration, Ibiza inspires the 7th art and hosts numerous film shoots such as "Amnesia" or "More" by Barbet Shroeder in 2015 or more recently the romantic comedy "Ibiza: Love Drunk" by Alex Reichenbach.
Films that will make you want to travel to Ibiza, where you can discover the magic of the island and its sublime landscapes. The White Island, the island where time stands still to give way to the joy of celebration or simple pleasures such as a walk along the waterfront. On your return, you will miss Ibiza.
